Welcome to the ERPLing Lab!

Welcome to the ERP Linguistics lab (ERPLing) at the University of Ottawa!
Research in our lab focuses on understanding differences between bilingual/ multilingual and monolingual language processing. Some of the research questions that drive the research in the lab are:
  • How is the mental lexicon organized when more than one language is known?
  • What are the effects of knowing a second (third, etc.) language on how the native language is processed?
  • Are multilinguals better at learning new speech sounds?
  • How is native language processing affected by bilingualism/multilingualism?
To address these questions, we emphasize the importance of studying multiple aspects of language ability, in a variety of populations, and using both behavioural and electrophysiological techniques.
